Piriformis Syndrome
Piriformis Syndrome involves the Piriformis muscle which has aggravated the Sciatic nerve. The Piriformis muscle, when shortening or in spasm, may compress the sciatic nerve causing pain, tingling, and numbness in the buttock and may progress along the back of the leg into the foot. Active Release Technique® (ART®) Soft tissue therapy has been proven to be a very effective treatment for Piriformis Syndrome because it can detect, evaluate and treat the Piriformis muscle and surrounding soft tissue structures that are compromising the Sciatic nerve. Our team at Summit Integrated Health Centre is fully qualified in providing the finest ART® care.
