Post Surgical Pain
Post surgical pain is usually due to scarring from the trauma of the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, nerves, and fascia) which have been affected during surgery. A period of a minimum of 6-8 weeks after surgery is usually required for the necessary healing to take place. Although in many cases with the consent of the Physician or Surgeon, movement to begin to restore range of motion and to break up scar tissue can begin.
Active Release Techniques® (ART®) has proven to be an extremely effective treatment to restore motion and break up scar tissue that has affected those soft tissues involved in post surgical pain. The symptoms that may be present are due to the affected soft tissues and therefore may vary from a sore and tight muscle to numbness and tingling due to a nerve injury. Addressing post surgical pain soon after surgery is recommended. Our team at Summit Integrated Health Centre is fully qualified in addressing and treating many causes of Post Surgical pain.
